Form 26AS – How to View and Download from TRACES Website

You might be aware of TDS or Tax Deducted at Source. This is an important component which is deducted from earning on monthly basis. The TDS Certificate is issued by the deductor on monthly basis but Form 26AS is a statement issued by the government and it can be downloaded from TRACES website.

You might be wondering what this Form 26AS is all about. The answer to this question is that Form 26AS is a form that is the statement of all the related information linked to PAN. This includes TDS, Tax Refunds and TCS as well. The form lists the details of the tax received by the government and you can compare it with the TDS to ensure that the deductor has paid all the tax applicable on your salary.

Steps to Download Form 26AS from TRACES Website

It is very easy to download Form 26AS from TRACES Website. You can follow the steps listed below and download the Form 26AS. We have also listed the contact number for TRACES so that you can get in touch with TRACES when you face a difficulty while downloading Form 26AS.

=> To begin downloading the Form 26AS, you need to visit the TRACES Website. The link of the Traces website is https://contents.tdscpc.gov.in/. There are some portals that may offer to help you with Form 26AS but we would recommend you to use the official portal mentioned here.

=> Once the website is displayed, click on the Login The button is displayed on the left side of the page. This will take you to the login page and here, you will have an option to login as a Deductor or Taxpayer.

=> Select your role and enter your Login ID, Password and PAN Number to proceed to the next step. For the first time users, they need to register to the portal and obtain their Login Name and Password.

=> You will be taken to a new page after login and on this page, click on Downloads from the top menu A drop-down menu will be displayed on the Downloads tab and from this menu, select Form 26AS.

=> You will now be redirected to a new page where you will be asked to enter some of the details. Enter the details and the Form 26AS will be downloaded on your personal computer.

Once you download Form 26AS, you can go ahead and match up the tax paid with the TDS Certificates that you have. If in case you notice a discrepancy in the tax amount then the first step is to contact the Deductor to check about the same.
